It’s a no brainer to understand how COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the retail industry, leading to a shift in consumer behavior and increased challenges for retailers. RFID, QR codes, and BLE technology can help retailers adapt to these changes and improve their operations, leading to profitability and better customer experience.

What is RFID and BLE technology?

RFID (Radio-Frequency Identification) is a technology that uses radio waves to communicate between a device, known as a tag or transponder, and a reader. The tag or transponder contains a small microchip and an antenna, and it can be attached to or embedded in an object. The RFID reader, which is connected to a computer or other system, sends out radio waves and receives signals back from the RFID tag or transponder. This allows the RFID reader to identify and track the object to which the tag or transponder is attached.

The utilization of Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) tags represents yet another means by which we may improve upon the management of Retail business amongst many other commercial endeavors.

These small tags, similar in appearance to those utilized in RFID technology, operate within a frequency range of 2.4 GHz, use a fraction of the power compared to traditional Bluetooth technology, making them a cost-effective option for long-term use.

It is important to note that BLE technology is not without its limitations. The short range of communication and potential interference with other 2.4 GHz devices must be taken into consideration when implementing a BLE system. However, with proper planning and implementation, the benefits of BLE technology can greatly outweigh these limitations.

When RFID, QR codes and BLE tags come together:

BLE tags, when used in conjunction with other technologies such as RFID and QR codes, can revolutionize the way in which we track consignments.

These tags, when paired with a suitable readers, such as mobile phones with bluetooth 4.0 or higher (RFID reader for RFID tags), can transmit information over a short range up to 15m, allowing for real-time tracking of consignments as they move through the supply chain.

Advantages of RFID, QR codes, BLE technology in Retail business:

• Utilizing BLE technology for real-time tracking of individual items within the store, retailers can quickly and accurately track inventory levels, reducing the risk of stock-outs and overstocking.

• Incorporating RFID technology for inventory management at the warehouse level, retailers can efficiently track consignments as they move through the supply chain, reducing the risk of loss and increasing profitability.

• Utilizing QR codes for tracking consignments, retailers can easily identify and locate specific items, improving the efficiency of their logistics and inventory management systems.

• By providing customers with detailed information about the items they are trying on, such as available sizes and colors, retailers can enhance the customer shopping experience and increase sales.

• With the ability to gain insights into customer preferences and inclinations through tracking customer interactions with BLE-enabled products, retailers can personalize their marketing efforts and increase customer loyalty.

• By combining these technologies, retailers can have a comprehensive tracking and inventory management system that allows them to monitor and control their stock levels, increase efficiency, reduce costs, and ultimately increase profitability.

• This system can also help the retailers to keep track of the orders and customers, by having a real-time data of inventory and customer interactions, retailers can improve their customer service and order fulfilment.

• This can improve upon efficiency, reduce the risk of loss and ultimately increase profitability.
